Community Dinner

Community Dinner this past week featured only eight of us, and yet the intensity of our conversation was beyond measure. Or maybe that’s why it was so intense. We all focused in on on the one subject that preoccupies all of us (and likely all humans!), more or less, whether we live here or not! And that is the relationship between self and others, between individual and community. Two people we had never been with before, Holly and Rukus (left and right, in back) likely prompted the focus, since both of them are seriously interested in the subject.

We talked about how communities of various kinds form and dissolve, those with leaders and those without, the various iterations of community, both small and large, both here and elsewhere, past and present. We talked about what it takes to actually live with others, despite our own projected shadows; on and on. A very stimulating evening. Grateful.

Trellising

Two days ago, Elisha had volunteered to lead a group from Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, who wanted to learn about Trellising.

Afterwards, the participants immensely satisfied, I asked the group to pose for a photo.

Work Party

Scheduled for Sunday 8-10 AM, as usual during these hot months, lots got done.

First, more potatoes dug and stored, thanks, mainly to Addy.

Next, Marita works with the stored garlic.

And finally, Marita came back into the greenhouse a few minutes later, only to find Carissa there, sweeping the floor. About time! Marita joined her. YES!
